PASTOR EXITED ABOUT
DOOR-TO-DOOR PRAYER OUTREACH !!!
September 3, 2002
Healing evangelist, Hamilton Filmalter, spent three weeks during the month of
August in several of our churches here on the North Coast of California. There
were a number of marvelous healings that took place and many were saved.
However, several of our people were also stirred to take an active part in
evangelism.
Hamilton did something that was very encouraging to the Pastors. As we all know,
it is very difficult to motivate our people to fulfill The Great Commission.
Hamilton's approach to this problem was unique for us. In each church he
attends, he convinces the people that miracles, healings and deliverances are
for today and that they are to be done by all of us, not just those in
leadership. For those churches who were willing to work the streets, Hamilton
spent about forty five minutes giving some very basic instructions about his
unique approach to evangelism.
Instead of a direct evangelistic approach, he encourages a prayer approach. We
were instructed to select a street and starting at the first house knock on each
door on the block. We went in teams of three persons each. If a woman answered
our knock, then the lady in our group would lead the conversation, If a man came
to the door, then one of the men of our group would lead. Our approach was to
say, "We are from (name of our church) and we are doing a prayer outreach in our
community today. Is there anything we can pray with you about?"
At the first house the man who came to the door had pain in his leg and foot.
When we prayed for him the pain instantly left, so it was easy to ask the next
question. "If you were to die, are you absolutely certain you would go to
heaven?" He wasn't sure, so we lead him in the sinner's prayer. He was grateful
and thanked us for coming. Thorough records were written down at each home we
visited so that a follow up could be made.
So often an evangelist might come to an area, do something wonderful, and then
leave the churches in the same condition as he finds them. However, Hamilton
feels very strongly that God wants to leave a deposit for miracles, healings,
deliverances and evangelism in each church where he ministers.
The approach to evangelism he teaches is very easy and not as intimidating to
those involved in it. It's actually thrilling to be a part of a healing and then
see that healing be the catalyst to the person's salvation as well. I believe
the deeper you take the anointing into the darkness, the greater it becomes, a
belief that was proven in our area while Hamilton was here. It's an exciting
concept that the Pastor's here on the North Coast enjoyed, mainly because we saw
several healings take place and subsequent salvations as well by using this
approach.
There has continued to be an increased number of healings in our churches as a
result of Hamilton's visit and our people are more excited about working the
streets than ever before. PTL!
